It’s whip it up Wednesday time and we’ve got the perfect recipe on hump day that is a delicious and a crowd pleaser at the dinner table.
Recipe: Bacon Wrapped Chicken Drumsticks:
1 package of chicken drumsticks (4-5 drummies with skin on)
1 package of traditional cut bacon
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 package of toothpicks to keep bacon secured to chicken
1 teaspoon of salt and pepper (use to taste)
1 tablespoon of garlic and onion powder (each)
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F or set grill to medium heat (400 degrees). Drizzle drumsticks with olive oil and a dash of onion and garlic salt, and regular salt and pepper. Wrap each drumstick with one piece of uncooked bacon and secure with toothpicks.
Place chicken drummies on a baking sheet (if cooking in the oven) or place directly on grill grates turning halfway through for approximately 20-25 minutes or until internal chicken reaches 165 degrees F. If your chicken has not reached that temperature continues cooking in 3-minute increments until the temperature is reached. To properly measure your internal temperature avoid placing thermometer next to check bone. Instead, insert into the center of the meatiest part of the drumstick and away from the bone.
Remove from grill or oven and serve with a favorite side or dish. The bacon and skin on the chicken will help keep this dish crispy and juicy.
